WHO AM I?

My name is Michelle Kvello and 10 years ago I stepped out from Corporate to a Consultant life.

I left corporate life because it was no longer giving me what I needed in terms of…life. When I made the leap I was spent. I was burned out and knew that my professional choices were no longer the right ones for me.

I could see what the road ahead looked like in terms of progression and realised that it just wasn't for me anymore. I wanted to design a career and a business that aligned with my values and the balance I wanted in my life.

It wasn’t that I wanted to work less or do less. I was still extremely ambitious; my ambitions just no longer fitted within the corporate mould. I wanted more autonomy, more variety, and more flexibility around work and family.

So I jumped, practically blind, into consulting life…..and I made mistakes, many of them! From over-servicing clients to sleepless nights about my sales pipeline, from working myself into burnout (again!) to saying yes to the wrong clients.

Fast forward to today, I now run a 7 figure virtual CFO business, Lantern Partners. I have a team of 10 and work with clients both nationally and internationally. I was recently named one of the Top 50 Women in Accounting and as a finalist for CFO of the year in the Australian Accounting Awards. I am a frequent podcast guest and a regular contributor to publications including Dynamic Business and CFO Magazine.

I share this with you not to toot my own horn but to show you what’s possible. I’ve been where you are, and I've walked those really uncertain steps and I can honestly say I wouldn't change it for the world.

Because I had no plan, aside from a rough, knocked together budget that I had literally called “What’s the worst that could happen”, the road was bumpy, uncertain and far more nerve wracking than it needed to be.
